Cottesmore Amateurs began their campaign back in the top flight of the Leicestershire Senior League with a useful away point.

Amateurs ground out a 0-0 premier division draw at Rothley Imperial on Saturday.

It was the first competitive match for new joint-managers John Morton and Steve Duffy.

There was not such good news for Cottesmore's reserves, who were beaten 3-2 at home to Barlestone St Giles reserves in City Goldsmiths Combination Division 2.

There were defeats for both Rutland clubs on the opening day of the Peterborough League premier division.

Richard Nelson and Jamie Saddington scored Rangers' first ever goals in the top flight but their side lost 3-2 at home to AFC Fletton.

Andy Sayers was on target for Uppingham Town but they were beaten 3-1 at Tod's Piece by Moulton Harrox.

Match reports will be in this week's Rutland Times, which is out on Thursday.
