A musician who has gigged all over the country is to make his home debut, with an appearance at a pub just a few strides from his home.
Stuart Rowland is bringing his band Junkyard to the Noel Arms at Langham for a 'Rocky Horror' Halloween party on Friday, October 31.

Junkyard have been making a name for themselves with their own brand of Rockabilly music called trashabilly – think The Stray Cats and early rock 'n' roll with a twist of punk – and have just signed a record deal.

The band never play pubs normally, and usually only perform their own material, but on this occasion, Stuart is bending the rules and putting the emphasis on fun.

Drummer and vocalist Stuart (38) who lives in Well Street, Langham with wife Diane said: "I am really looking forward to this date. We are not really known around Rutland because we don't play pubs and tend to be on the bill of rockabilly of psycobilly festivals, so I decided to do this one-off gig in my local."

Stuart, who moved to Langham from Greetham three years ago added: "It will give me a chance to show people who I am and what I do. Neighbours may have wondered what I do when they see me going off with my drums, but no-one knows me as a singer.

The other members of Junkyard performing at Langham are guitarist Glen Weekly and bassist Glenn McCabe.

Expect a high energy and visually exciting set from the trio, with drummer/vocalist Stuart foregoing the luxury of a drummer's stool, Glen displaying a distinctive Gretsch guitar and Glenn on upright, double bass.

Stuart, who for five years worked full-time as front man with the successful ska/Madness-inspired band Michael Caine, is now head gardener at Gretton House care home.

Stuart parted with that band when he moved to Greetham and decided to concentrate on original material, but there will be some familar tunes at the Noel Arms party night.

He said: "For this one-off gig we are going to play a mixture of our own material and covers from the rockabilly vaults and there will alo be a DJ and even a music quiz. And it will be fancy dress, too."

"It may be the only time I get to play at my local pub, which is going to be a scream."

Admission is free, although a collection will be made for local hospice Loros.
